What's new with Ashleigh?

Firstly, I would like to thank all my lovely readers to responded to my last newsletter. I was very surprised that NO ONE was interested in reading new chapters to a story.

So, you win. I will save my serials to publish online at my own pace.

Most of you told me you wanted to know what was going on in my life. So today, I wanted to share with you the game my oldest daughter invented this weekend.

For her last birthday, we bought her artist colored pencils. There were maybe 50 of them in a soft case that rolls up. She loves the kit so much, she carries it everywhere.

Anyway, Sunday night, she invited everyone to share her pencils (a good thing, too, since most of ours are broken or lost in the depths of the house). We were to draw a picture. Anything we wanted. The only catch? No one else could see it. She even gave us several hours to do it.

As we finished our drawings, we slid them into a manila envelope. Just before supper, my daughter held up each picture and we all had to guess who made each. When all six were out, we laid them on the table and gave one final guess.

Most were obvious, although we were definitely surprised by one another's skills. Everyone enjoyed it so much, we decided to make this a weekly event.

Except, we changed it up a bit. For next week, we have a theme: Evil. I have no idea why my twelve-year-old chose this theme or how my four-year-old will draw it, but I am excited to see the results. We also have all week to draw the picture. My daughter placed the envelope outside her bedroom door for us to deposit our pictures at our convenience. I already know what I want to draw. Now to find the time to do it.

So, that brings me to this week's question.

What are some activities your family enjoys doing together?

Hartfield Chronicles
